Keeping fish as pets has its own pleasure for those who do it. Here we share initial tips for those who want to maintain aquarium fish:
- How to choose healthy fish
A healthy fish is one with clear eyes, no redness or fungus on the tail or fins, no wounds or loss of scales on the body, and a bright body color. Choose fish with a good appetite and seem to be actively swimming freely. Avoid fish that look stressed, thin, and visible swelling or organ damage.
- How to Catch Fish
In catching aquarium fish you should use a small net. Patience is important, because chasing fish around the aquarium will stress the fish very easily. To make catching fish easier, aim the net from the bottom close to the bottom, then lift and hold it with your palms to prevent the fish from jumping out again. Nets can be a medium for disease transmission from one tank to another, for that it is advisable to dip them in a special aquarium disinfectant mixture after use.
- How to Move Fish
Fish transportation usually uses clear plastic filled with oxygen gas. Tie at the ends with a 2:1 volume ratio of air to water. Then put the plastic in a closed package, such as a paper bag or black plastic, to reduce travel stress on the fish.
- How to Introduce New Fish
It will take some time for the ikat to adapt to its new location. The first step is to equalize the temperature of the plastic containing the fish with the temperature of the new aquarium, by floating it for a few moments. The fishing net then slowly releases. To reduce stress, do not immediately turn on the lights on the aquarium. Support with feeding containing vitamin C, aiming to improve the immune system and help prevent stress-related diseases. Choose a feed such as ORATUS Dry Aquarium Fish Food which contains vitamins C and E to reduce stress on aquarium fish.
